This is a luxurious and completely private Pearl Harbor and Oahu south
shore tour, meaning that you’ll have your own knowledgeable chauffeur
and guide, who will drive you around in an eight-passenger stretch
limousine.
Your guide will meet you curbside in front of your hotel and already on
your way to Pearl Harbor will tell you many interesting facts about the
“day that will live in infamy.” This is how President Roosevelt called
this fateful Sunday morning in December 1941 when the U.S. Pacific Fleet
was attacked by Japanese bomber planes at Pearl Harbor.
After you arrive you’ll get to see a dramatic film containing actual
footage of the attack. Then you’ll board a Navy shuttle boat that will
take you out to the Arizona Memorial, a platform that was built right on
top of the sunken battleship USS Arizona. See the “Black Tears of the
Arizona,” as the small oil patches are called that are visible on the
water’s surface around the wreckage. After more than 65 years, oil is
still leaking out of the battleship.
At the memorial you’ll also visit the Shrine Room, which bears the names
of the 1,177 crew members who perished aboard and who now lie entombed
in the battleship below. Back on land you’ll have ample time to browse
through the Arizona Memorial WWII Museum exhibits and visit the gift
shop where you can find interesting WWII books, souvenirs and
memorabilia.
Later, you’ll also see battleship row, a WWII submarine and the U.S.
Pacific Fleet Headquarters. After a memorable tour of Pearl Harbor,
embark on an elegant excursion around Oahu’s south shore, which features
some of the most magnificent scenery on the island.
You’ll drive through historic Honolulu downtown and Waikiki towards
Diamond Head and enjoy scenic views from there. Then it’s on to another
lookout at Makapuu Point, the Halona Blowhole, Sandy Beach (a great spot
for taking pictures of breaking waves that form tunnels), Koko Head
Crater, Hanauma Bay (Oahu’s most popular spot for snorkeling), the
amazing white-sand beach of Waimanalo and so much more!
This truly is a great and luxurious combo tour, ideal for those who like
to travel in comfort and see many of the island’s best spots in one day.
