One-Day Hawaii Volcano Night Eco Tour (from Waikiki) - Tour 33W

Experience the ultimate fusion of fire and water in this thrilling excursion to the world’s most active volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii!

On this exciting Hawaii volcano tour, you will explore the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you will walk beside the gaping hale’mau’maui crater and visit the fascinating Jagger Museum. Spot exotic birds in a native rainforest, walk inside of an actual lava tube, and witness, firsthand, eerie steam vents. Then take a special journey to Kalapana to watch our island grow as active lava flows into the ocean at twilight.

Your magnificent volcano eco-tour will also include the Big Island's awe-inspiring Rainbow Falls, tropical Hawaii rainforests, and unique black sand beaches.

Recently, our tour groups have been lucky enough to witness record breaking lava flows and even fountaining lava. As a guest on this tour, you too may be able to share this experience.

As the sun sets, you will see the glow of lava as your professional guide escorts you to the magnificent Kalapana lava viewing area. Have your camera ready as Lava escapees from the pu’u o’o vent and travels down the mountainside into the ocean. This is a remarkable opportunity you should not miss. Experience history by booking this tour with us today!

Tour Notes

When flowing, lava can be often be seen day or night. Due to flight departure times from Hilo, visits to the lava viewing area regularly conclude at approximately 7pm. If you desire to see lava at night, please be sure to check the time of predicted sunset during the season in which you are planning to visit to determine darkness for lava viewing. Because of the ever-changing intensity and course of lava activity, viewing areas are subject to change as deemed necessary by Hawaii Civil Defense. Additionally, please be aware that lava flows are a naturally occurring event and sightings are not guaranteed. We do not guarantee the viewing of active lava flow or other natural events.

Volcanic fumes (VOG) are hazardous to your health. Persons with breathing and heart difficulties, pregnant women, infants, and young children are especially at risk should consult a health care professional before taking this tour to avoid potential health problems from exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form.

Nature changes, so the lava flows, viewing location, and the tour will change accordingly.
