The most momentous event in Oahu's history occurred on December
7, 1941, the "day that will live in infamy." That morning, a Japanese force of
more than 400 airplanes attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor Oahu,
killing 2,400 people. This attack was a precursor to America’s entry into World
War II.
Many human lives were lost, airplanes destroyed and ships sunk. The astonishing
attack was organized by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander-in-Chief of the
Japanese Combined Fleet. He as at first opposed to "waking the sleeping giant"
of American diligence and military supremacy, but he had orders and knew that
Japan's only hope of defeating the Americans lay in a quick, critical victory.
The battleship USS Arizona was among the first casualties of the attack and many
of the 1,177 crewmen went down with the ship and remain there today. A Pearl
Harbor tour is an experience no one should miss.
In this ultimate Pearl Harbor and Oahu adventure you will not only
get an in depth land tour or Pearl Harbor, you will also see it from the
air just as the Japanese may have on the "day of infamy" in 1941.
